When Okezie was newly transferred to Saint Theresa Academy,
Soon, his true colour appeared, as he was an unredeemable womanizer. He soon began sampling the female teachers, one by one, both married and single, until his unholy assignment was completed.
Some of the female teachers, even fought one another, in a bid to have absolute dominion.
But the fool was betrothed to one beautiful sister whom everybody cherished and admired. You would have wished the beautiful angel was either married to your son, or brother.
After Okezie had done the traditional marriage, he had continued his escapades until the girl discovered he was not interested in getting married any soon. His in-laws asked him to complete the marriage ritual, so that he could take home his bride, but the lust of the flesh held him bondage, until Nneka called off the marriage, and wedded one richman and traveled to America, to continue her new life. 'Every disappointment is a blessing', they say.
When Okezie settled for another girl, Chioma, her mother reacted like a lioness robbed of her cubs, but then Chioma was determined to marry the man. You know love is a strong thing--a wine that intoxicates; a wild fire that is difficult to quench; and a strong wind that blows until it exhausts itself, and peters out.
Eventually, Okezie married his heart throb, Chioma, but then God's judgement in Proverbs 9:26 was his portion. He was punished for his unbridled sexual rampage.
Chinyere met Aham at Queen's College, Enugu, and both fell in love, so soon. She took in after a brief closeness, and in order to avoid any embarrassment, both hurriedly went to the altar, as they were prepared and ready to get married.
After two beautiful children, the relationship declined terribly, that the marriage collapsed.
After being a single mother for two years, Chinyere became sober, and began to review the whole affair, and came to the conclusion, that Aham was not a monster after all. She came to the conclusion that the marriage could have worked, and quickly identified the causes of the rift.
She had kept bad friends, who had negatively influenced her. Her friends were bad women who ruled their husbands, and slept around with every Dick and Harry. Her friends were worldly, and lacked the fear of God.
A good number of them, were captains of women liberation struggle; men and marriage haters; misogynists and misogyamists.
Chinyere believed in women liberation, and joined her friends in attacking men, including her own husband. If a woman supports her husband, he gets psychological support and security, but if he is attacked by his wife, he feels insecure, and seeks emotional support, which could come from another woman.
Aham did not seek solace in another woman, but relied on Jehovah God.
Her family members always supported her whenever any quarrell arose, not minding who was right, or wrong, and always blamed their son-in-law wrongly. Whatever Chinyere did was right, and whatever Aham did was wrong.
By the time she came to her senses, her marriage had drifted down down the valley, and was irritivably damaged beyond redemption. Soon, the marriage broke down completely, and,'to your tents O Israel'.
After the separation, she did not find things easy, as she had envisaged. The mystery husband waiting in the alley did not show up. Many ladies believe once their marriage break, many husbands would appear from the blues and marry them. Life is not a bed of roses.
Her eyes opened, and 'had I known' came at last.
She had packed out of her residence, for a cheaper
accommodation, as her lifestyle declined. She had met a couple in her new residence, and discovered that even though the family occasionally went without food, they had contentment, and,
prayed morning and evening, and attended church programmes regularly.
After a time, things began to improve for the Ogbuagu family.
Soon, they began building a house, after purchasing a piece of land, and by the time they dedicated the house, they had bought a new car, and invited Chinyere for the house dedication.
Chinyere, who had not been attending church services, gradually began to attend that Church services, and soon began imbibing the word of God regularly. Soon, she became born-again. As time went on,she became a church worker, and her pastor discovered she was not living with her husband, and encouraged her to reconcile with her husband.
She saw the advice as 'mission impossible', and began contemplating to leave the church. One day, she prayed about the idea, and decided to make a move.
All those who fuelled her emotions deserted her, and even began to blame her for not being able to keep her husband.
Aham's mother had told him plainly to get married, and forget about Chinyere, but he was yet to take a decision.
One day, Chinyere ran into Aham, who was not ready for any greetings, but Chinyere mounted pressure on him, to listen to her.
She got his address, and one day visited him after fasting and praying for one week. Aham did not take her seriously, until he told some of his friends. Some told him to dismiss her, while others advised him to accept her back.
When Chinyere visited him again, she went with her pastor,as she tendered an unreserved apology, and asked for forgiveness. Before Chinyere left, Aham promised to consider her plea.
Aham had already committed himself to a lady, but one mind told him that the devil you know is better than the one you don't know. A bird at hand is better than two in the bush.
When her relatives learnt Chinyere had reconciled with her husband, they were furious, and warned her never to come back with any report, or complaint of maltreatment from that monster called husband. It was only her father who encouraged, and supported her wise decision.
Her two brothers abroad deleted her phone number from their phones.
The female friends of Chinyere made her 'an enemy of the people.' (Henrik Ibsen). Chinyere discarded her old friends, and made Christian friends.
The family began praying twice a day, and never missed any Sunday services, and attended all the Church activities religiously.
Soon, the family began to prosper, her relatives began to emulate her new lifestyle, as some of them became born-again.
Even her brothers abroad reconciled with her, and sent her a brand new car, and invited Chinyere and her family to visit them abroad.
Jesus is Lord.
