One Man's Meat Another Man's Poison

The scarcity of husbands is a very serious matter as it concerns women and modern society. Life nawa o.
No man will be happy if his daughter, or sister is unmarried, and becomes a single mother. In the family, such a single sister becomes a burden; someone who should  have been  somewhere else, now becoming an appendage.
When she dies, she is buried anyhow. Those who are supposed to bury her properly are her husband and children.
While some ladies just marry when  it is time for them to marry.  No wahala. Others make many  attempts to hook men by hook, or crook, yet without success.
Many factors are responsible for this situation.

Curses, or ancestral sins could be responsible. For those in this group, serious prayers, or deliverance could be a solution. There are cases which obviously involve aka ekwensu (the hand of Satan). A girl gets engaged, and when it is time to wed, an ill-wind blows from nowhere and disrupts the whole arrangements. The suitor could abruptly cancel the marriage,or run away for no just reason.
A good number of women succeed in snatching husbands from the rightful wives, and quickly fasttract very impromptu weddings.
Odiegwu.
Lack of exposure could be another factor. If you are tucked away in one remote territory, you could remind obscure for long. On the other hand, too much exposed persons might be confused by finding it difficult to make appropriate choices.
While many ladies resort to prayer houses for solution, others patronise babalawos, or dibia, Eze mmuo( Nollywood coinage) for solution. Yet others attach themselves to married men as side chicks, waiting for the right moment to strike.

As Chukwu returned from Ogbete Market, he stopped his car in front of his house, at No 23 Oguiyi New Layout, Enugu. He saw a  large crowd talking animatedly near his house.

"Nna, what is going on over there?" Chukwu enquired from an onlooker standing nearby.

"Two  women fought themselves almost to death because of a man." The bystander replied.

Chukwu walked closer to the scene, and saw two ladies, almost half-naked shouting at each other, and with bruises all over their faces, and blood flowing.

Ugobest lives around Enugu metropolis, and has been a successful hair dresser in town. Her salons are patronised by the wives of big wigs in town. As the women got their hair done, they gossipped a lot.

Some talked about their marriages, and, or husbands. Majority complained about the shortcomings of their husbands. Those who were not married gossipped about their lovers. At times, you heard dirty gists, asiri, or rumour.

Without knowing it, Jannifer was careless to expose her husband, and his faults, not knowing Ugobest was trying to make an encroachment.

Ugobest had surreptitiously obtained all the necessary information she needed from Jannifer, before she  made a move.

She craftily sought out  Kennedy's best foods and drinks; what turned him on and off, and all she needed about Jannifer's husband  before making a deadly move. It was like the KGB, CIA, or the Mossad at work.( The KGB is the secret police of old USSR, while the CIA is the Central Intelligence Agency of America, while the Mossad is secret police of Israel).

Before Jannifer knew what was happening, Ugobest had won the hearts of her husband, and a relationship had already started.

" I did not know you were fake and mischievous." Jennifer shouted.

"One man's meat is another man's poison. You did not like Kennedy, and  you left him, and I took over." Retorted Ugobest, "what is my offence?"

"Shame on you; husband snatcher. Go, catch your own man; leave my husband alone for me. My own husband, I repeat--for emphasis. Be warned."

"You are a big fool; while other ladies  pampered their  husbands, you  maltreated your own man.  You pushed him into my waiting hands; and I grabbed him without wasting time. A big catch!" Laughs out loud.

"But you advised me to leave him." Sobbing hysterically.

"Are  you a fool; so you lack common sense? Go and look for another husband. Kennedy is mine; I have taken over, and you cannot get him back. He loves me so much, and, we are deeply in love." She shook her body proudly in jubilation.

"I will fight you until you run;  I must take back my loving husband. I will frustrate you by all means."

"Fool that you are! You now realise he is a nice guy, but it's too late; I am already carrying his baby", pointing proudly at her stomach."

"I will travel all over Nigeria to  make sure you do not marry him. I will visit Okonaku; Okija, Chokoneze. I will visit Ijebu ode. If you don't run mad, call me a bastard! I must have my sweet revenge. He who laughs last laughs best."

Ugobest gives her a big laugh. " I have already fortified myself with otumokpo. You are too small for me. Can't you see this expensive ring I am wearing? Odigheshi." She raises her right hand. "I obtained it from India. Indian talisman."

Kennedy was happy to have met Ugobest, and happy she had come into his life by the time she did. He just believed God sent Ugobest to wipe away his tears, and to rejuvenate his life.

He found it strange and hard to believe the story about Ugobest as a husband snatcher. The two women can settle their differences, as long as he enjoys his newfound love.

The women continued to quarrell endlessly. Many people have tried to settle their fight but without success.

Two other women stood nearby discussing the event. "You see the irony of life. You don't value what you have until you lose it."

"One man's meat...another man's poison."

"People should stop telling other people their  secrets and family problems."

"She has learnt a bitter and important lesson about life. Keep your secrets secret."

This incident is an eye-opener.

Life nawa. Many women now specialize in husband-snatching since it is not always easy to secure bachelors. If you are careless with your husband--gbram! Someone else grabs him. Life is a teacher.

"Go And Sin No More."

Nkechi and Ikechukwu wedded in a colourful wedding ceremony, that attracted the cream of society. The marriage was a one-in-town wedding, that attracted the high and mighty in the town, and beyond. There was money to spend, and Ikechukwu spent  it without hesitation. Every person who attended the wedding went home with a very precious gift--handbags, stoves, handsets, pots, gas cookers etc. After their third child, six years later, Ike's fortune nose-dived to an abysmal low, and he lost his wealth, and began to beg bread. As a motor parts dealer, he was well-connected, and imported his goods from abroad. His friends were notable millionaires, known in Nigeria and beyond. The dwindling economic fortunes of Nigeria affected his business adversely, but what destroyed him completely was the emergency of a greedy governor, who pulled down many houses in the state capital, and sent many hardworking people to their early graves, and before he vacated the office, imposed an imbecile ...

Not God's Will For Us To Marry

The next academic year began in September, after the long vacation. I was still savouring the visit of Adeze as we resumed for the new session. I proudly told Nkechi that  my girlfriend visited me at Aba. When you eat an appetising food, you don't easily let the memory go away quickly. Nkechi did not enjoy the gist, but told me she loved me. I was surprised because she had a fiance. We became closer as the memory of Adeze soon evaporated, and she never visited again. There were no distractions, and so we gradually grew intimate. One thing led to another, and Nkechi called off her engagement with her lover, Mike. Nkechi is reserved and loved me whole heartedly, to the extent she tells me the ugly encounters she had occasionally with men.  When the then old Imo State government threatened to sack auxiliary teachers, I was forced to do my PGDE at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. In my absence , a medical doctor, her town's man, came around to sleep with her, but she rebuff...

Chinyere Swallowed Her Pride, And Begged Aham For Reconciliation

When Okezie was newly transferred to  Saint Theresa Academy, every body saw him as a saint, not knowing he was a serpent in a green grass. He was suave and handsome, and feigned been born-again, but ironically, refused all entreaties  to join the staff fellowship. Soon, his true colour appeared, as he was an unredeemable womanizer. He soon began sampling the female teachers, one by one, both married and single, until his unholy assignment was completed. Some of the female teachers, even fought one another, in a bid to have absolute dominion. But the fool was betrothed to one beautiful sister whom everybody cherished and admired. You would have wished the beautiful angel was either married to your son, or brother. After Okezie had done the traditional marriage, he had continued his escapades until the girl discovered he was not interested in getting married any soon.  His in-laws asked him to complete the marriage ritual, so that he could take home his bride, but th...
