When Love Turns Toxic, Disaster Follows

In as much as love is sweet; love can also turn bitter; very bitter that an embittered soul  could kill his lover; very absurd indeed. The opposite of love is hate, or hatred. "I love you" is sweet; "I hate you" is bitter; unpleasant, acidic, and dangerous.
I remember in those good old undergraduate days, when we used to enjoy the sweet song of T.P.  Teddy Pendergrass sang out his soul with his  famous love song: " When Somebody Loves You Back."
It used to be a favourite number in ballroom dances.
The university is a sweet place; if you lose focus, you end up as a casualty, because there are many distractions. A good number of days in a semester was spent in partying. During the first semester--it is wellcome parties for freshmen, while a good part of the second semester is spent in organising send off parties for final year students.
If you are the carefree type, and spend all your time attending parties, you end up failing out of the university, just as you dance out of the ballroom dance, at the end of the parties.
As an Aba boy, we used to attend musical shows featuring the reigning bands of the era... The Wings, The Apostles, Founder's 15, Semi-colon etc. We watched the shows through pigeon holes, but, entered the hall, just a few minutes to end of each show, as gatecrashers. And when coming out, we do gra-gra as if we paid our tickets.

A young lover in one of the citadels of learning, went to consort with his lover, his soul mate; probably, he missed his way, and went to the wrong place, and was  trapped; captured, or kidnapped by some sex-starved mad ladies. They held him hostage; stripped naked--all of them; imagine twenty women lining up for you...you finish one; another one beconds on you to continue. After the second encounter... the fourth orders you to mount; when you faint, they revive you and ask you to continue. Free sex.
Handling a woman is a serious task--most men prepare for it; but just imagine ten waiting for you at a stretch, that was the fate of a guy who missed his road.
Love can miss its way. Love can go wrong. When love goes wrong, disaster is inevitable.

The trend now is to drink poison and die, when jilted! What is the world coming to?
Even teenagers who are yet to begin life, now resort
to suicide as a cure for love
palaver. A 50-year-old lady was reigning curses on a young man, who ran away from her to better his life. The young man who was her tenant, realized he had no future with a sugar- mummy, and fled, to better his life. The young man quickly packed out of her sugar-mummy's house, relocated, and got married.

In those days, when you disturbed your mother so much for food, because you were hungry. If she got annoyed with you; she gave you more than you could eat, and made sure you finished the whole food.

Hatred, anger and bitterness-- triplets, known to bring danger, disaster, ruin and death. Love is freely given, and love can also be purposely withdrawn. Love is voluntary. For one reason or another, love can be called off. If Ada discovers that Okey is better than David, she has a right, or choice to dump David, and fall in love with Okey.

If Mike is violent as a lover, Nkechi has every right to call off the affair; love affair is not a death sentence.

If Nkechi discovers that Kanayo is lazy, or poor, and cannot better his life, you don't expect her to choose poverty and hopelessness. If she comes across a better person, she must dump Kanayo, to move on with her life. Nobody ever purposely jumps into a fire, except as a suicide case. One foolish lover went to propose to his girlfriend; the girlfriend treated him with disdain,"I feed you and clothe you with my money, how dare you propose to me?" And he was humiliated in public. Was she not right? Love does not amount to foolishness, stupidity, or iberibe (lack of wisdom, or common sense).

Love is accompanied with emotions: feelings. Love is not compatible with reason.

When love turns sour, there is bitterness, and lack of reason, and when there is lack of reason, trouble is inevitable. Death could be the consequence.

There are many fishes in the ocean; true. When emotion holds sway, reason diminishes. Otherwise, when Ada falls out of love with Ekene; what is he supposed  to do?; remain calm and move forward with life. After healing takes place, Ekene falls in love again, and life continues. For every man, good or bad, there is a woman, ugly or beautiful.

But, because reason flees when Ekene is jilted, he loses his reasoning, and begins to be weird, and negative--he kills and maims.

Sometime ago, Ugochukwu and Philo were in love--sweet love; consuming love.  They slept together; made love together; ate together; went to church together, but along the line, something snapped, and Philo backs out. She tells Ugochukwu, "go your way." Ugo is full of disappointment, bitterness, and because reason has been overpowered, negativity holds sway. Violence. Death. Destruction.

In one institution in Calabar, a boy killed his lover. Ekaete backed out, and called it off with her lover of three years. There must be reasons for her actions. Maybe, the new guy is richer; more handsome; a better lovebird...

Asuquo devised a ruse, and asked her former girlfriend, "let us have a parting get-together; 'one for the road'.

Ekaete innocently obliged and without reasoning. Why must we have a parting get-together, since we have parted company?  She was killed by her ex-lover, who then reported himself to the police. When criminals kill people, they flee, and do not hand themselves over to  the Police. Read James Hardly Chase, Nick Carter, or The Man They Could n't Arrest, and prove me right, or wrong. The difference between reason and emotion is this: reason tells you," you must get away fast. If you are caught, you will be hanged." Emotion tells you, "I can pay any price; at least, I have taken my pound of flesh." You are caught and sent to the gallows. Chei! What a pity!

Foolish love .

Some people part company, and still remain friends. Some people part company and still reunite as lovers. Some people divorce, and still remarry.

One senator, knowing that death was knocking at his door, brought back his divorced wife before he kicked the bucket. If I were God, I  would have given him a ticket to heaven. Even if he is the Devil's p.a., he deserves a standing ovation. Eziokwu. It is not easy to take such a reconcilatory decision. How many people would have done that, knowing they were about to leave planet earth?

A young man killed his lover because she was fed up with him, and called off the relationship. He ambushed her, on her way to the church; dragged her to a hidden corner and murdered her.

An unfortunate girl just picked a call from her ex-lover, and just like that, her crazy boyfriend just strangled her to death. Just like that; for just answering a call--no more, no less.

Uwanka saf.

"Go And Sin No More."

Nkechi and Ikechukwu wedded in a colourful wedding ceremony, that attracted the cream of society. The marriage was a one-in-town wedding, that attracted the high and mighty in the town, and beyond. There was money to spend, and Ikechukwu spent  it without hesitation. Every person who attended the wedding went home with a very precious gift--handbags, stoves, handsets, pots, gas cookers etc. After their third child, six years later, Ike's fortune nose-dived to an abysmal low, and he lost his wealth, and began to beg bread. As a motor parts dealer, he was well-connected, and imported his goods from abroad. His friends were notable millionaires, known in Nigeria and beyond. The dwindling economic fortunes of Nigeria affected his business adversely, but what destroyed him completely was the emergency of a greedy governor, who pulled down many houses in the state capital, and sent many hardworking people to their early graves, and before he vacated the office, imposed an imbecile ...

Not God's Will For Us To Marry

The next academic year began in September, after the long vacation. I was still savouring the visit of Adeze as we resumed for the new session. I proudly told Nkechi that  my girlfriend visited me at Aba. When you eat an appetising food, you don't easily let the memory go away quickly. Nkechi did not enjoy the gist, but told me she loved me. I was surprised because she had a fiance. We became closer as the memory of Adeze soon evaporated, and she never visited again. There were no distractions, and so we gradually grew intimate. One thing led to another, and Nkechi called off her engagement with her lover, Mike. Nkechi is reserved and loved me whole heartedly, to the extent she tells me the ugly encounters she had occasionally with men.  When the then old Imo State government threatened to sack auxiliary teachers, I was forced to do my PGDE at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. In my absence , a medical doctor, her town's man, came around to sleep with her, but she rebuff...

Chinyere Swallowed Her Pride, And Begged Aham For Reconciliation

When Okezie was newly transferred to  Saint Theresa Academy, every body saw him as a saint, not knowing he was a serpent in a green grass. He was suave and handsome, and feigned been born-again, but ironically, refused all entreaties  to join the staff fellowship. Soon, his true colour appeared, as he was an unredeemable womanizer. He soon began sampling the female teachers, one by one, both married and single, until his unholy assignment was completed. Some of the female teachers, even fought one another, in a bid to have absolute dominion. But the fool was betrothed to one beautiful sister whom everybody cherished and admired. You would have wished the beautiful angel was either married to your son, or brother. After Okezie had done the traditional marriage, he had continued his escapades until the girl discovered he was not interested in getting married any soon.  His in-laws asked him to complete the marriage ritual, so that he could take home his bride, but th...
