One Man's Meat Another Man's Poison

The scarcity of husbands is a very serious matter as it concerns women and modern society. Life nawa o. No man will be happy if his daughter, or sister is unmarried, and becomes a single mother. In the family, such a single sister becomes a burden; someone who should  have been  somewhere else, now becoming an appendage. When she dies, she is buried anyhow. Those who are supposed to bury her properly are her husband and children. While some ladies just marry when  it is time for them to marry.  No wahala. Others make many  attempts to hook men by hook, or crook, yet without success. Many factors are responsible for this situation.  Curses, or ancestral sins could be responsible. For those in this group, serious prayers, or deliverance could be a solution. There are cases which obviously involve aka ekwensu (the hand of Satan). A girl gets engaged, and when it is time to wed, an ill-wind blows from nowhere and disrupts the whole arrangements. The suitor coul...

'Pentecostal Churches Do Not Manufacture Husbands!

'Had I known' comes at last. Many ladies  are today crying 'had I known.' The mistake they made is that they thought that time waited for them, and so, they rejected one suitor after another, until the suitors stopped coming. I remember my sister, Daa Comfort. Many suitors came one after another, until she  chose one Mbano man. Their marriage was very peaceful; my father never went on any peace keeping mission in their house until death parted them a few years ago. The man did not exhibit his fighting skills on my sister. But the only thing they suffered is poverty. Many ladies who would have been comfortably married with children missed the opportunities. When a lady is young, she rejects many suitors, thinking that she had all the time in the world, not knowing that uwa bu ahia. You go to the market; buy whatever  you want to buy, and go home. And another person's turn comes. William Shakespeare said that life is  stage; you act your part and exit. While they are ...

You Don't Buy A Husband With Money

Emeka had just finished dressing up, and had gathered all the necessary documents he needed  for the day's business, when Christy walked in. Emeka is a clearing and forwarding business man based in Lagos, Nigeria. He is successful in the business, and has trained up many young men who are equally successful in the business, through the now famous Igbo Apprenticeship System (IAS). Igba boy. They have been close friends for the past two years. Christy has severally used the services of Emeka's firm in clearing  the cars her father imported into Nigeria. Along the line, Christy and Emeka fell in love, due to constant interaction. Closeness enhances relationships. Christy had casually invited Emeka to attend her 27th birthday ceremony, two years ago, and Emeka had attended, and really showered  her with gifts: a designer gold wrist watch, and  two pairs of expensive designer handbags. Christy's father is a billionaire  business man, who is into oil and gas business....

Dona Eventually Married His Heartthrob

Andy is a very handsome young man, who has a natural charm for women, as they pester him to enjoy his charisma. Some men don't chase women with money; the women naturally flood around them, just like they do in the case of Andy. That was the case with Teddy Pendergrass the late popular American musician; women abandoned their husbands and went after him, a sex symbol. You might think Andy uses touch-and- follow to catch women. It's like a competition; every woman wants to associate with him. Married men spend a lot of money in chasing ladies because, the ladies know they  have nothing to gain from the relationship, but bachelors don't spend as much because the relationship could end up well in holy matrimony.  Donatus is a very handsome young man. Since he was posted to that office, unmarried ladies have been fighting fervently to win his heart, but, he has maintained his stance by not given in to their whims and caprices, as  he has consistently maintained a relationship...

Akpan Secretly Married Another Wife, But Then She Found Out

Eno just remembered the ugly encounter she had in her first year with her former boyfriend, Inyang Okon Inyang, who jilted her, and treated her with disdain. During the October rush three years ago, she had fallen in love with Inyang Okon Inyang, who had won her heart, after an encounter. They started moving together for a while, until one night when there was a film show. Surprisingly, Inyang Okon Inyang had given reasons why he would not be attending the film show. He said he had an urgent message from home, and needed to know why he was required at home. Eno had believed him whole heartedly, only to catch him with another girl at the  film show. Inyang Okon Inyang was holding hands with his new-found love, that when he saw Eno he acted as if Eno never existed. She had quickly rushed to him, shouting his name. But Inyang boldly scolded her, " I don't have any business with you. Can't you see I am busy?" "Inyang, it is me, your girlfriend, Eno!"She had sho...

Not God's Will For Us To Marry

The next academic year began in September, after the long vacation. I was still savouring the visit of Adeze as we resumed for the new session. I proudly told Nkechi that  my girlfriend visited me at Aba. When you eat an appetising food, you don't easily let the memory go away quickly. Nkechi did not enjoy the gist, but told me she loved me. I was surprised because she had a fiance. We became closer as the memory of Adeze soon evaporated, and she never visited again. There were no distractions, and so we gradually grew intimate. One thing led to another, and Nkechi called off her engagement with her lover, Mike. Nkechi is reserved and loved me whole heartedly, to the extent she tells me the ugly encounters she had occasionally with men.  When the then old Imo State government threatened to sack auxiliary teachers, I was forced to do my PGDE at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. In my absence , a medical doctor, her town's man, came around to sleep with her, but she rebuff...
